Legal disputes over property ownership, copyrights and other matters are ongoing in the United States between Nevada-based Empire Technological Group Ltd and Hong Kong-based casino equipment supplier Paradise Entertainment Ltd. The former initially sued the latter, which later countersued.
Empire Technology Group filed a lawsuit in Clark County District Court in Nevada in October against a declarative ruling that Paradise Entertainment and its latter affiliate LT Games (Canada) Ltd had no ownership of Empire Technology and that Empire Technology was not obligated to obtain approval from Paradise Entertainment and/or LT Games (Canada) before purchasing certain assets under the Arruz brand.
Empire Technology is also seeking a declarative judgment by Paradise Entertainment and LT Game (Canada) that demonstrates no legal or equitable interest in Empire Technology's gaming licenses or assets.
Paradise Entertainment and its subsidiary LT Game (Canada) filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Empire Technology Group, Game Logistics LLC, Lin Yi Peng, Roy Kelsey Allison and Daryn Keeley, respectively, in the U.S. District Court in Nevada on March 1 this year.
Paradise Entertainment's March 1 complaint alleges that Mr. Peng, known in the industry as "Frank Peng" and described in court documents as the brother-in-law of Paradise Entertainment's managing director Jay Chun, used "his position to steal the source code" and "encouraged former employees and executives of competitors to set up a new company."
Bloomberg Law quoted the filing in court as saying. Mr Peng is a former director of LT Game (Canada), a subsidiary of Paradise Entertainment, and was mentioned in the complaint.
GGRAasia approached Paradise Entertainment and Empire Technological for comment on the legal case. Only Empire Technological had comment.
Mr. Allison, who represents Empire Technology, told GGRAsia that Paradise Entertainment's March 1 complaint is in response to a lawsuit previously filed by Empire Technology Group. Mr. Allison is the global chief operating officer of Arruz Gaming Global, a recently formed Empire Technology company.
"Empire [Technology] denies Paradise [Entertainment] claims and will actively defend them," he said
