Casinos in Ontario are preparing to reopen after Ontario's health and safety protocol ease announcement. This week, Casino Lamar's management announced that the venue is ready and eager to resume work next Monday, January 31, 2022. It is also the day when the province lifts some of the restrictions.

On January 5, 2022, Ontario announced it would enter the reformed second phase of its business resumption plan. The decision is due to an increase in new variant cases of unprecedented conditions across the state. This means social venues such as casinos, bars and restaurants have been closed until at least Jan. 26.

Gateway Casino & Entertainment, which operates several gaming facilities, including Ontario, this week announced that the facility is ready to renew operations. Game Hotspot is now ready to resume operations on Monday, January 31, 2022, and the company has confirmed that the facility will operate at 50% of its maximum guest capacity.

Robert Mitchell, director of communications and public relations at Gateway Casino and Entertainment, shared that the company is thrilled to reopen its gaming facilities and welcome its employees back. The hotel, Simcoe Yard House pub and St Germain's steakhouse will all be open. Weir's Restaurant will also reopen on February 1, 2022.

The casino's doors open at 10 a.m. on Monday, and employees have already been summoned to work since the Jan. 5 shutdown. Guests can play table games with slot machines then. For now, however, the center bar remains closed until February 21, when you can have another drink in the game room. The entertainment center will reopen sometime on March 14, according to the company.

More casino properties in Ontario will reopen on January 31, 2022, as both Casino Niagara and Fallsview Casino and Resort are set to welcome customers again. Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati said he was happy to reopen because many of the property's staff would also be returning. According to him, more than 4,000 people are employed at the two properties.

Diodati explains that both buildings have done their best to ensure a safe return to perfect conditions. Niagara Falls is receiving quarterly payments from OLG as the host of the casino, meaning the city is pleased to have and operate gaming facilities.

But the closure of Casino Niagara and Fallsview Casino & Resorts last year and the closure of 2020 left a mark on Niagara Falls' budget. Last summer, acting finance director John Levens explained that in 2020, the region received 23 million CA from OLG, but experienced a loss of 19.1 million CA due to the closure in 2021. Experts have warned that it could happen in the event of another long-term shutdown.
